Let’s protect our elections!

Thank you to the Senate cosponsors of the update to the Electoral Count Act

Protecting our elections and strengthening our democracy have never been more important, and we are building critical momentum for a bill to protect the will of the voters and help prevent a constitutional crisis following future presidential elections.

A bipartisan group of senators recently introduced the Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act of 2022 (S. 4573), that would modernize and strengthen the Electoral Count Act of 1887 (ECA) — a huge breakthrough. And, just last week the House passed its own ECA update with bipartisan support.

Thank you to the following senators who have have cosponsored S. 4573:

  • Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME)

  • Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV)

  • Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH)

  • Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ)

  • Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT)

  • Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH)

  • Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)

  • Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA)

  • Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC)

  • Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT)

  • Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV)

  • Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD)

  • Sen. Todd Young (R-IN)

  • Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE)

  • Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE)

  • Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC)

  • Sen. Chuck Grassely (R-IA)

  • Sen. John Hickenlooper (D-CO)

  • Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO)

  • Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA)

  • Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA)

  • Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH)

Thank you to this bipartisan group for affirming that voters decide elections — not politicians. These senators’ support is crucial, and it’s time to get this bill over the finish line.

We need Congress to work together on the final details and pass an ECA update this year.

Write to your senators and encourage further bipartisan action to ensure a full and complete ECA update is passed this year.
