Urgthe Senate to oppose the SAVE America Act
After already passing in the House, the Senate is considering the SAVE America Act, legislation that would require strict documentary proof of citizenship and photo identification to participate in federal elections. It would also shift key election responsibilities away from state and local officials and give more control to federal agencies and the president who oversees them.
More than 21 million U.S. citizens do not have ready access to the documents this bill would require. As a result, eligible voters could face new hurdles just trying to stay registered or cast a ballot.
At the same time, the bill would place immediate and sweeping unfunded mandates on local election offices, forcing rapid system changes and increasing the risk of confusion, delays, and errors.
Instead of focusing on real election challenges like outdated equipment, physical security, and staffing shortages, Congress – under extreme pressure from President Trump – is considering policies that could make voting more complicated and elections harder to run.
Voting shouldn’t depend on how much time, money, or paperwork someone can manage. And this is happening based on false claims of widespread noncitizen voting that have been disproven time and time again.
Write your Senator below and urge them to oppose the SAVE America Act.
